Tailored Biobased Resins from Acrylated Vegetable Oils for Application in Wood Coatings

چکیده

The modern coating market is dominated by acrylic, polyurethane, and polyester polymer resins produced from unsustainable fossil resources. Herein, we propose the preparation of biobased components to produce functional solvent-free wood coatings with enhanced performance properties. Acrylated rapeseed, linseed, grapeseed oils were prepared via a one-step synthesis used as basis for control resin viscosity fatty acid content. A combination vegetable oil acrylates was matrix monomer propoxylated glycerol triacrylate (GPT) selected tailor properties UV crosslinked network. During polymerization, GPT induced two-phase microstructure indicated an SEM analysis. possibility generating tailored in final material examined this study. addition increased storage modulus up five-fold, crosslink density two-fold at 20 °C, glass transition temperature 10.2 °C. Pull-off adhesion tests showed strength 1.21 MPa. In addition, photo-oxidation effect on samples, i.e., aging, assessed microhardness, sliding friction, optical microscopy. Coatings microhardness value 250 MPa, while coefficient friction (μ) range 0.21 0.88.

Acrylated Lesqverella Oil in Ultraviolet Cured Coatings

Environmental concerns focusing on the emission of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) can be ameliorated via the development and use of very lowto no-VOC coatings. Ultraviolet (W) radiation curing is an effective means of incorporating low molecular weight reactive species into high performance, onvolatile polymers. The advantages of W curing include rapid polymer network formation on heat sensi...

Lubricant basestocks from vegetable oils

Oil Chemical Research. USDA l-ARS-NCAUR. 1815 N. U;liuersity Street, Peoria, IL 61604, USA Accepted 8 October 1999 Compared to the lubricants made of petroleum, vegetable-based lubricants are much more biodegradable but inferior in many other technical characteristics. The basestock typically contributes to more than 80% of lubricant and must meet performance criteria in such aspects as cleanli...

Catalytic applications in the production of biodiesel from vegetable oils.

The predicted shortage of fossil fuels and related environmental concerns have recently attracted significant attention to scientific and technological issues concerning the conversion of biomass into fuels. First-generation biodiesel, obtained from vegetable oils and animal fats by transesterification, relies on commercial technology and rich scientific background, though continuous progress i...

The Determination of Stigmastadienes in Vegetable Oils

The development by collaborative study of a standardised method for the determination of the stigmastadienes content in vegetable oils is described. The procedure involves the isolation of the unsaponifiable matter in the oil ands its fractioning on a silica gel column. The fraction containing the steroidal hydrocarbons is then analysed by capillary gas chromatography and the quantitative asses...

Biodiesel production from vegetable oils by supercritical methanol

Transesterification of vegetable oils in supercritical methanol are carried out without using any catalyst. Methyl esters of vegetable oils or biodiesels have several outstanding advantages among other new-renewable and clean engine fuel alternatives and can be used in any diesel engine without modification. The most important variables affecting the methyl ester yield during the transesterific...
